David Maynard Obituary

David C. Maynard, 73, of Hollis, NH, passed away unexpectedly on August 25, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, N.H. David, who at times shared the nickname “Musky” with his older brother Steve, or “the Magnet” when playing softball, was born in Nashua on June 18, 1952, to Lucien and Ellen Maynard. After graduating from Nashua High School, he spent a lifetime working as a carpenter, builder, supervisor, project manager and property manager, most recently with Brooks Properties in Salem, NH, and the United Methodist Foundation of New England in Derry, NH. He always enjoyed pointing out to family members as he drove through many towns in New England where he had worked: “See that building? I built that.” He was known to family and friends as a quiet, kindhearted, gentle and spiritual soul with a rascally streak; he loved a good practical joke. He loved deeply and was enormously proud of his wife and children and teased his siblings that he was the most handsome and athletic Maynard, which might have been true.

David was predeceased by five of his brothers: Steven (Kathleen) of Portsmouth, NH; Jim (Sharon Eliot) of Nashua; Peter (Vicki) of Medford, MA; Mark of Yarmouth, ME; and Christopher of Hudson, NH.

He is survived by his wife Patricia, his children Forrest Maynard of Saco, ME, Brieta Sheehan of Peaks Island, ME, Quinn Maynard of Arlington, VA, and Luke Maynard of Nashua; by his siblings Mary Arrowsmith (Russell) of Amherst, NH, Susan Babineau (Jim) of Lisbon Falls, ME, Kevin Maynard (Cindy Mugnier) of Kittery Point, ME, and Elizabeth (Fred) Lamb of Nashua, NH, and by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, many of whom will remember Sunday visits from Dave on “Donut Day”.

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and co-workers.

A memorial service celebrating David’s life will be held on September 20 at 10:00 a.m. at the Main Street United Methodist Church, Nashua, NH.
