David R. McCartney

David R. McCartney, 78, Belmont, WV, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at WVU Camden Clark Medical Center. Born in Parkersburg, WV, on March 14, 1947, he was the son of the late Rev. Hayward McCartney and Crosby Shreckengost McCartney. He was a 1965 graduate of Sistersville High School. David retired from OSI/Union Carbide. He was an avid bowler and rode motorcycles cross country with his wife.

He is survived his wife of 59 years, Patty Brewer McCartney; two daughters, Missy (Larry) Childers, and Wendy (Bob Cutright) Taylor; one son, David H. (Lisa) McCartney; seven grandchildren, Nakita (Nic) Kyle, Kari (Jennifer Gregg) Childers, Roger (Kasi) Taylor, Amy (Louis "Bub" Taylor) Childers, Austin (Katie) McCartney, and Alex McCartney; eight great-grandchildren, Brock Waggoner, Kinslee Barber, Ryker Wilson, Jaxtyn Wilson, Emarie McCartney, Khloee Taylor, Brayden Wilson, and Makinzie Wilson; two brothers, Sonny (Cheryl) McCartney, and Mike (Julie) McCartney; one sister, Angie (Andy) Bee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sharlene Cain, and Shirley McCartney.

No service is planned at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later time for friends and family. Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV is assisting the family with the Arrangements. An online guest register is available at www.ingramfh.com.
