For years Dave and Donna owned two grocery stores one in Lilbourn that they purchased from Tom and Marie McClarty and years later (1993-2003) they opened a second store in New Madrid, MO. David and Donna were always there to help the community anytime there was a need. Dave and Donna had many Dave s Bestway kids throughout the years while they owned their business. They took in kids that needed assistance without hesitation. They truly loved others as Christ has asked us to do.
David was a sovereign and servant leader to his community. David was a member of the Lilbourn Volunteer Fire Department since 1970 when he joined the department as a Junior Firefighter. He was named chief in 1998 and has served in that role for the past 24 years. David was the Emergency Management director for New Madrid County for over 14 years. David was a servant leader coaching youth sports for many years in Lilbourn and New Madrid. David was a hard worker and loved the Lord and his family. David was the epitome of what Christ called us to do with loving our neighbors. David would help anyone in need at the drop of a dime. David worked tirelessly his entire life and gave everything he had to his family and community.
Pops, as his grandchildren called him, was larger than life. His bond with his grandson Carson was nothing short of spectacular. Pops could make Carson smile just by entering the room. Pops and Carson enjoyed swimming together each summer. Pops also loved his granddaughters and enjoyed watching their volleyball, basketball and softball games. Pops never missed an event with his grandchildren. David also loved watching his only son coach. He loved baseball and he loved attending his son s games as often as he could. Pops was the BEST! We will see you again one sweet day.
