David Sullivan McLemore 83, of Dallas TX, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023 after a long illness surrounded by his loved ones. David, also affectionately known as D.S., was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. He loved fiercely and deeply, and we take comfort in knowing that D.S. is now at peace.

David was born in Longview, TX, to the parents of Rosco and Elizabeth McLemore on January 27, 1940. He attended and graduated from Longview High School where he developed lifelong friendships.  He spent his childhood years living in the countryside until relocating to Dallas, TX. The tenacity and hard work ethic his parents instilled in him enabled D.S. to take on a life God designed just for him once he left his family home.

David married Nina Shaw on December 18, 1969. They were blessed with two sons during their union.  He was always a family man and prioritized his family above everything else in his life.  He loved to embark on many family vacations.

D.S. was introduced to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a very early age. He attended First Baptist Church of Oak Cliff where he was a devoted member and the church’s designated Bus Driver. He also attended Griggs Chapel Baptist Church for many years. Later he moved his fellowship to Japonica Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board for 19 years and was a faithful and devoted member until his health began to encounter many challenges.  His love of God was constant throughout his life.

D.S. worked hard all his life and was employed at Dallas Power & Lights (DP&L). While during his tenue, the company sponsored many Family Days, and his family attended many events such as Six Flags Theme Park.  The company later changed its name to TXU where he retired in 1992.  He always maintained a strong work ethic.  D.S. also worked part time as a Custodian, cleaning buildings at night. David could accomplish anything he set his mind to do.

Preceding him in death are both parents, Rosco and Elizabeth McLemore; three brothers; Clifton McLemore, Thurmon McLemore and Charlie Ray McLemore; two sisters, Joann Burns and Rolson Tobb and one son in law, Reginald Issacs.

David will be remembered as a wise, loving, and devoted husband, brother, grandfather and friend. D.S. were all these things but most importantly, he was a Man of God. We will forever be grateful that God gave us him, and that he gave us Jesus.

D.S. is survived by his loving wife, Nina McLemore; three sons, Reggie McLemore, Julian (Keisha) McLemore and Berry Shaw (BJ), one daughter, Othelia (Ann) Issacs; two brothers, Walter (Mary Ann) McLemore and James (Carlann) McLemore; one sister, Irnea Woolen; one brother in law, Martin Shaw; two sister in laws, Violet Johnson and Vickie (Bobby) Herrin; 16 grandchildren Nina Shaw (Pinky), Berry Shaw Sr., (BJ), Taneal Shaw, Ebony Sasser, Julian McLemore, Jr., Kenyra McLemore, Richard Shaw, Vincent Shaw, Veronica Shaw, Kasen McLemore, Kollin McLemore, Reagan McLemore, Lexion McLemore, Marquis McLemore, Marcus McLemore, Jordin Shaw; eight great great grandchildren, Jamail Martin, Jr., Ta’Kyra Jones, Torianna Lewis, Bre’lon Shaw, Brylan Shaw, Brylee Shaw, Zion McLemore and Carter McLemore; he also leaves special memories to a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
