David Lee McMurray

David Lee McMurray, aged 73, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, North Carolina. Born on April 19, 1952, in the serene landscapes of Henderson County, North Carolina, David lived a life full of service, dedication, and love.

After proudly serving his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps, David embarked on an extraordinary 50-year career in law enforcement. He retired as a First Sergeant from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, where he left an indelible mark through his leadership and commitment. His passion for upholding justice and supporting future generations led him to become the Basic Law Enforcement Training Coordinator (BLET) at Blue Ridge Community College. He later joined the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, where he inspired many as the leader of their firearms training program.

David's professional journey was paralleled by his deep love for the outdoors and, above all, his family. He cherished every moment spent making sweet memories with his loved ones. His faith as a Christian guided his actions and provided strength throughout his remarkable life.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Carroll and Dorothy McMurray.

David's legacy lives on through his three sons, David McMurray, Jr. (Kelly), John McMurray (Melanie), and Jake McMurray (Jessica); his five adored grandchildren, Cole, Lauren, Emma, Zeke, and Daniel McMurray; his brother, Kirk McMurray; and his nephew, Matthew McMurray (Holly).

To honor David's life, a celebration will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Hendersonville, officiated by Pastor Kevin Dale. The service will include honors from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol honor guard. In lieu of a visitation, family request all to gather in the fellowship hall immediately following the service for a meal and time for fellowship, sharing, and celebration of David's life.

David Lee McMurray will be remembered as a devoted father, a committed public servant, and a man of great integrity whose life was a testament to the values he held dear. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering faith.
