David Robert Meagher, 67, of Hubbardston, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
David was born in Worcester on October 17th, 1958, the son of Robert Meagher of Hubbardston and the late Phyllis Meagher (Paddock). After growing up in Hubbardston, David graduated from Quabbin Regional High School in Barre. He earned his undergraduate degree from Springfield College and his Master of Business Administration from Babson College. David dedicated more than 50 years of his professional life to the payroll industry, and helped shape decades of change, paving the way for those who followed through his expertise and leadership.
David lived with generosity at his core. A talented chef, loyal Boston sports fan, dog-lover, and Irishman, he had a rare gift for connection—making friends easily and building community wherever he landed. What began as David’s homemade chili ladled out at New England Patriots tailgates grew into a legacy crowned by two Burlington Chili Cook-Off championships. More than awards or accolades, David’s true mark was the warmth he created, a presence that filled rooms, drew people together, and made the world feel briefly kinder for those who shared space with him. Above all else, David’s greatest pride and deepest joy was his family, whom he loved fiercely and placed at the very center of his life.
A true New Englander, he raised his beautiful family in Cape Elizabeth, Maine before moving back to his family home in Hubbardston, MA “Cathedral Farm”. He leaves behind his lovely, devoted wife and soulmate of nearly 38 years, Ellen Meagher (Waters). He is also survived by his adoring children: Sean Meagher and his wife Kate Meagher of Attleboro, MA, Conor Meagher and partner Alejandra Uranga Zaragoza of Guanajuato, Mexico, and MaryKate Meagher and partner James Donachy of Redmond, Oregon – As well as two delightful grandchildren Tlalli Kalindi and Declan. David was the younger brother of the late Paul Meagher. He is survived by his sister Susan Meagher and leaves behind many wonderful nieces, cousins, family members, and colleagues.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, January 9th from 3-6PM at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield College Football Team or the Hubbardston Lions Club, PO Box 108, Hubbardston, MA.
