David Raymond Michaud (Dave, Mich, Papa Dave, Papa Mich) passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2022, in Plymouth Michigan. He was born in July of 1957 to Col. Normand and Jaqueline Michaud in Newport News, Virginia.
David earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a master's degree from Walsh College. He had a long successful career and looked forward to spending his retirement days with family and friends on the coast of somewhere beautiful.
David is survived by his children: Justin (Kristin), Adam (Jill), Jonathan (Kristen), Bailey (Michael), Melissa (Conner), Jessica (Chris), his parents: Norm and Jackie, his brothers and sisters: Carolyn (Dave), Steven (Casey), Michael (Kathleen), Catherine (Mike), and Mark, his fourteen grandchildren: Preston, Gabriella, Eli, Jacob, Ryan, Devyn, Makenzie, Reagan, Kennedy, Jackson, Lily, Liam, Cameron, and Lucy, and many others.
David was an influencer to most and an includer to all. He was a loving father, son, coach, storyteller and was so proud of his family. David was most proud of his children and found joy in teaching, loving, and laughing with them. He was so very proud of the people they have become and all of their accomplishments. It didn't matter how far away or how tumultuous the situation, he was always there to love and support everyone. He was the first born of six siblings to Jackie and Norm and he was a devoted son, all his life. David was so proud of his father, a Colonel in the United States Airforce, who taught him how to be a true patriot and his mother who taught him how to love, laugh, and be full of personality. He was a coach and mentor to all his children, coaching the boys' baseball teams, the girls' soccer teams, and teaching all his kids the important life lessons. David was a vibrant storyteller. He would tell you stories from the past and present and you knew when the story was finished you were going to have something that was going to stick with you forever. He loved his family so much and some of his happiest moments were time spent around the kitchen laughing, high-fiving, and reminiscing life with them. David will be sorely missed, but the lives he touched will carry his spirit with them forever.
In the words of Papa Mich, "I have a toast".

David was an avid reader, always with two or three books going at a time, and always, his Wall Street Journal nearby. That is how we met-talking about the books we were reading, and exchanging title and author recommendations. Just the day before he left us, he sent me a couple of titles to add to my read list. I will miss our discussions of those philosophies, and so much more.

I was able to meet Dave through work a few years back. He wore his heart on his sleeve with passion & I remember his speaking a lot about his family ! I hope his family can remember the lessons he taught them & fun stories to pass along as it was so positive and real.

I´m so shocked & saddened by my "Cuz" David´s sudden passing.
I have great memories from our teenage years and we had talked about meeting in the Keys some day when we were both retired.
With prayers & sympathy! Cousin Jeannine
