David Milliken, affectionately known as "Reds" to those closest to him, was a man of many admirable qualities. Born in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, PA on March 3, 1935, David was a dedicated individual, always lending a helping hand when needed. He was a witty soul who loved to crack jokes and lighten the mood at family gatherings. Resilient in the face of adversity, David's strength was an inspiration to those around him, most demonstrated by the care of his beloved wife. He passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023.
David's professional life was characterized by his dedication and responsibility. He served as a fire equipment mechanic for the City of Philadelphia, a job he performed with great diligence for many years before retiring. He was a proud member of F&AM William L. Elkins Lodge 271, where he formed many enduring friendships. Away from work, David was a man of varied hobbies; he enjoyed strumming the guitar, listening to country music, and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. However, what mattered most to David was his family, to whom he dedicated much of his time and love.
David is survived by his son Scott and daughter-in-law Kate, his grandchildren Quinn, Brendan, Jonathan, and Daniel. He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Martha Milliken, his beloved wife Tina Brown, his daughter Pamela Milliken, and his brother Edward Milliken and his wife Isabel. David's life will be celebrated on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Lambie Funeral Home located at 8000 Rowland Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19136. The viewing will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a Masonic Service at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
