David Allan Monday, 64, passed away peacefully at his home in Winnsboro, Texas, on January 3, 2026.
David was born on September 7, 1961, in San Diego, California, to Dalton Eugene Monday, Sr. and Janice Jones Monday. As the son of a military family, David spent much of his youth moving from place to place, an experience that shaped his adaptability, work ethic, and strong sense of loyalty.
Eventually, David made Winnsboro his home, where he attended Winnsboro High School and later built a life centered on family, hard work, and community. He met the love of his life, Vickie Monday, in Winnsboro, and the two soulmates shared 21 years of marriage together.
David spent the majority of his working life in industrial maintenance, a field that suited his mechanical skill and problem-solving nature. Outside of work, he enjoyed restoring and working on all types of vehicles, watching football, playing golf, shooting pool, and spending time with his friends and family.
Those who knew him well understood that family always came first, and that David could be counted on at any time, without hesitation. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He could often be found with his loyal canine companion, “Trip”, who will miss him dearly.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton Eugene Monday, Sr. and Janice Jones Monday; his brother, Dalton “Butch” Monday, Jr.; his sister, Sheila Ann Monday; the mother of his sons, Lesa Marie Landers Monday; his sister-in-law, Laura Jane Lamm; along with many other dearly departed family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Vickie Monday; his children, Matthew Monday, Michael Monday, Jay Hunter, Jessica Hunter Durbin, Jonathan Hunter, Miranda Monday; his brother, Derek Monday and wife Marcela; his sister-in-law, Debra Jordan; his grandchildren, Nolan Monday, Shane Monday, Kristoff Monday, and Emma Lee Rust; along with many other surviving family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in David’s name.
