David W. (Wayne) Napier, 69 of Essie, Kentucky departed this life on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital in Hyden, Kentucky. David W. was born March 8, 1956 to the union of the late, Willie and Lona Howard Napier. Throughout his life his occupations included a carpenter, coal miner, logger and dozer operator. He enjoyed fishing, riding four-wheelers and especially loved spending time with his family.
David W. was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lona Howard Napier, father-in-law, Bill Johnson, sibling, Philip Bert Napier, son, David Wayne Napier, Jr., two grandsons, Brady Wayne Couch and Freddy Wayne Noah Napier and nephew, Austin William Napier.
David W. is survived by loving and devoted wife, of 50 years, Polly Johnson Napier, siblings, Daniel (Theresa) Napier and Willie Napier, Jr. and Mary Ruth (Manford) Roark, brother-in-law, David (Karla) Johnson, sister-in-law, Debbie (Jeff) Gross, mother-in-law, Joann Johnson, sons, Billy Wayne (Amanda) Napier and Dana (Robin) Hill, daughter, Misty (Brady) Couch and 8 grandchildren, David Couch, Polly Grigsby (Austin), Joshua Couch, Hailey Napier, Kaitlin Roberts (Ben), Cheyenne Browning (Junior), Courtney Begley (Nick) and Matt Hacker. He is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and friends.
Funeral: Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.
Ministers: Jerry Maggard and Blake Turner
Interment: Austin William Napier Family Cemetery, Essie, Kentucky
Visitation: Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 6:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel
