It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of David Roy Nelson. He was born in Naples on September 4, 1978 and passed unexpectedly on August 14, 2022 at 43 years old. David graduated from Barron Collier High School and worked at McDonald's Corporation as a facility manager as well as owner and operator of Naples Marine Service.
Our entire family rejoiced at the moment the learned of his birth which brought tremendous joy to all. He was the first grandchild, nephew and cousin on both sides of his family.
David was an avid beach goer and it was his happy place. From surfing to fishing there was no doubt about his love for the water. David was the ultimate girl dad and was ecstatic when he found out he was also having a little boy. He doted on all of them and always inspired his kids to do their best. He was a big brother to Bill as well as his 7 younger cousins.
David was one of the hardest working men and was so talented. He had a gentle, loving spirit and radiated positive energy. He was a man strongly convicted in his faith and was living it every day.
He is survived by his three, loving children, Hayley, Lainey and David Nelson; his parents, Carol and John Sissman, Jr.; his beloved brother, Bill Nelson; his grandparents, Geri Underhill and Anthony Liscio; Ann and John Sissman, Sr.; his children's mother, Amanda Schwarz; his partner, Carissa Krueger and his bonus daughter, Juliet; his Uncles, Ted Nelson, Bob Liscio (Jae), Paul Liscio, Tommy (Susan) Sissman and Tom (Sue) Helmers; his Aunts, Deb Nelson (David Splaine), Lisa Nelson Edwards (Jim), Diane Neuman, and Mary Bates (Roy). He was preceded in death by his father, William 'Bill' Nelson; his great grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Weber, Nana & Bapa Nelson, Gretchen and Roy Nelson, Mary and Alfred Liscio, Mo & Poppy Underhill; Uncle Michael Sissman; and his namesake, his Uncle David Liscio. His grandparents and aunts were always happy to be elected his babysitter so much so that we had to assign a day of the week to each one. He is also survived by numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. He will be deeply missed everyday by his family and all that knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. John's the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Ave. N., Naples, FL 34108 with a reception immediately following in the ballroom. Dave and I are so sorry to hear of the death of your son, David. We remember him because he was a friend of our son, Christopher, who was tragically killed at the age of 7-1/2. You will certainly be in our thoughts as you go through the hard days ahead.

Dave was a friend since middle school and moved to Colorado for a couple years after high school when we had too many adventures to count. From snow boarding, camping, fishing, CU Buff football games to late night darts, Dave was one of a kind. This picture was taken at A-Basin in Summit County, CO during the Budwesier Cardboard derby. Dave, you'll be missed forever, but never forgotten.
