CUYAHOGA FALLS - David H. Nelson, age 78, went to his permanent home with his Lord, on July 25, 2025, after a short illness.
He proudly served as an RN in the Vietnam War. He went on to have a fulfilling 40-year career at Akron Children's Hospital. He especially enjoyed his time as a surgical OR (Operating Room) nurse but went on to serve in other capacities at the hospital.
In his younger years, he was an accomplished skater. His interests included a love of gospel music and watching old movies. His faith was the most Important aspect of who he was.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Harold and Louella Nelson, and his “sis,” Lou (Nelson) Meadows. He is survived by his nieces, Karen (Meadows) Lumpp and Kim (Meadows) Arnold, as well as his great-nephews, Craig and Keith Lumpp.
Also included are two longtime friends, Donnie and Bill Rader, who he considered like sons. He was preceded in death by Donnie and is survived by Bill, to whom we are so grateful for his care and dedication to David.
There will not be any calling hours or service. A private burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
