David A. Nerad, 62, of Coralville, passed away unexpectedly from a health issue on July 24, 2023 at his residence.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Interment will immediately follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville.
Dave was born on April 19, 1961 in Iowa City to Vernon and Betty (Seaton) Nerad. After graduating from City High in 1979, he attended Kirkwood Community College.
Dave married Melissa Stalf on October 5, 1985; they had one son, Tyler.
Dave was a sales representative for several years before managing Active Endeavors for almost 25 years. He loved his job but never considered it work. He loved helping his customers and leaving a smile on their face. His employees became family and stayed in touch even after moving on.
In his spare time, Dave enjoyed biking, turkey and pheasant hunting, cooking (he was a definite grill-master!), reading and playing old records. He always had a joke up his sleeve and loved making others laugh. Dave adored Door County and Wisconsin supper clubs, Fall drives and leaf looking, traveling, and took great pride in family traditions. He had his own house rules playing Rummikub and was fiercely competitive. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer and Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved cheering them on.
Dave is survived by his mother, Betty; son, Tyler (Megan) Nerad; siblings: Kevin (Nan) Nerad, Lynette Nerad and Brian Nerad as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Vern and his wife, Melissa in 2016.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family c/o Tyler Nerad.
