David Ted Newbold, age 65, of Molino, Florida passed away on September 17, 2025. He was born on September 1, 1960, in Upland, California, the son of Keith and Barbara Newbold.
He spent his early years in California before his family moved to Slidell, Louisiana. During his childhood, David shared a close bond with his siblings, spending countless hours making music together, singing, and creating memories around the board game table. He also worked alongside his father in the family's cabinet shop, where he developed both a strong work ethic and an appreciation for craftsmanship. Ever the thrill seeker, David loved adventure and often created homemade swings and zip lines for fun, filling his youth with both excitement and creativity. These early experiences shaped his character and brought joy to those around him.
Following graduation from high school, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Nevada Las Vegas Mission, an experience that deeply shaped his faith and love for service. After returning home, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for four years at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
During this time, he met and married his first wife, Marianne Bergan in April 1985, and together they raised three children, Heather (Brad) Etier, Daniel Newbold, and Ian Newbold. Being a father was his greatest joy. He was devoted to his children, ensuring they were always cared for and creating a home filled with laughter, adventure, and cherished memories.
In September 2007, he married Edna Newbold (Meyers), and together they built a partnership filled with love and companionship. They worked side by side for several years as insurance adjusters and enjoyed many shared experiences throughout their 18 years together. In 2017, he retired, embracing time with Edna and family.
A man of many talents, he had a lifelong passion for music. Gifted with a beautiful singing voice and the ability to play multiple instruments, he shared his talents freely as a choir director in his local congregations and also composed several of his own songs. His music lifted spirits and enriched the lives of those around him.
Equally skilled with his hands, he was a master carpenter who could build or repair nearly anything. He turned his craftsmanship into a successful carpentry business, admired for his skill, creativity, and dedication. His work left a lasting mark not only in the projects he completed but also in the admiration of those who witnessed his craft.
He will be remembered for his faith, his love of family, his humor, and his gifts for both music and craftsmanship. His legacy lives on in the lives of his children, his family, and the many people he touched with his talents and kindness.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Edna; his former wife, Marianne Bergan, the mother of his children; and his children, Heather (Brad) Etier, Daniel Newbold, and Ian Newbold; his grandchildren, Addalie (Jaisiah) Rivera, Brayden Etier, Brooks Etier, and Brynn Etier; his siblings; Keira (Orbie) Ellis, Sherrie Hudak, Susan Newbold; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Barbara Newbold; brother, Paul Newbold; nephews, Zachary Pittari and Kevin Hudak.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery on October 31, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.
