David Horace O’Kelley, age 61, of Shellman Bluff, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026. David was born, June 10, 1964.
He graduated from Berkmar High School in 1982. In 1984, he married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Thompson O’Kelley. They shared 41wonderful years together and were devoted to each other through life’s journeys.
David retired from the Gwinnett County government after 30 years of dedicated service. David’s successful career began at an entry level position and through many promotions, David ended his career as Manager of Licensing and Revenue. Over those years, he established many friendships that existed well beyond his retirement.
David enjoyed his log cabin in Cherrylog, GA and hiking the trails of the North Georgia mountains. He loved his time working out in the gym, walking beaches, riding his bicycle, cruising around Shellman Bluff on his golf cart and listening to his expansive music playlist.
David spent his retirement years enjoying his family, his friends and the beautiful rivers and marshes of coastal Georgia. David rarely missed a sunrise overlooking the rivers from his back porch.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, Horace O’Kelley and Juanita Noblet O’Kelley, Lilburn, GA., his brother Kenneth O’Kelley, Suwanee, GA. and his sister Joyce Brady, Lawrenceville, GA. David leaves behind his beloved wife and life partner, Cheryl, his sisters, Brenda Gentry (Bill), Athens, GA., Glenda Long, Lawrenceville, GA., and twin sister Denise Tehrani (H.T.), Panama City Beach, FL., and many nieces and nephews.
