David Lynn Olden, age 73, of Coweta, OK, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his home in Coweta, OK. He was born on May 11, 1952, in Muskogee, OK, to Dave William Olden and Dortha Mae (Miller) Olden.
David was a lifelong Coweta resident and a proud graduate of Coweta High School, Class of 1970. He attended Coweta schools throughout his life and remained deeply connected to his hometown. David worked for many years as a welder, including employment with Knight Industries and several other companies, earning a reputation as a skilled and dependable worker.
David loved his family, friends, and animals, and he lived life with both passion and thoughtfulness. One of his greatest loves was music. A gifted vocalist and guitar player, David entertained countless people over the years, both personally and professionally, as a singer, songwriter, bass player, and lead guitar player. Music was not only his talent, but his refuge and joy.
Those who knew David remember him as an intelligent, charming, generous, caring, and deeply talented man. He was often a fiery gentleman, capable of a quick temper, yet equally known for his soft, gentle manners and kind heart. If David could help someone in their time of need, he would do so without hesitation or expectation.
In his later years, David could often be found with a western playing on the television, a guitar by his side, and his faithful dog, Ethel, close by. He loved learning and spent countless hours reading about Oklahoma history, political history, and the world at large. David had a thoughtful, moderate outlook on life and possessed a deeply spiritual and philosophical nature, often pondering life’s great and small questions and its many mysteries.
David is survived by his son, Cameron Olden of Coweta, OK; his daughter, Aloha Olden of Coweta, OK; his grandchildren, Ezra Olden, Diela Olden, Tyra Olden, Christian Olden and wife Katen, Kaylie Voss Neal and husband Akia, and Everest Harmon; his brother, Donald Olden and wife Sandy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Dortha Olden; his sister, Lola Olden Meadows; his brothers, Irvin Leon Olden and Dennis Ray Olden; his niece, Kimberly Dawn Meadows Hermann; his great-nephew, Bobby Joe Myers; and many extended family members and friends.
David will be sorely and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Coweta, OK, with Rev. Brody Morris officiating.
