STEVEN DOUGLAS OLDEN, affectionately known as "Dougie", age 74 passed away peacefully on Friday November 8, 2024 at the West Los Angeles V.A. Medical Center in Los Angeles, California surrounded by his loving family and the presence of God.
Dougie was born on July 17, 1950 in Piqua, OH to Barbara J. Olden and William D. "Shank" Weems. After graduating from high School in 1971, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served two terms of active duty until his honorable discharge in 1976.
Once Dougie experienced the vibrant lifestyle of sunny California, he became a rare visitor to Ohio, returning for a family reunion and to honor the memory of cherished loved ones. On Thanksgiving, he prepared a turkey to ensure his homeless friends had a meal to enjoy. A passionate sports enthusiast, his favorite teams were the Los Angeles Raiders, Los Angeles Lakers and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Dougie was preceded in death by his devoted parents Barbara and Shank Weems; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins whom he adored. He leaves to cherish his memory his favorite twins Shelly and Kelly Smith; son Kevrod; grandchildren: Jalyn, Annah, Serenity, Kayden and KaMauri; great-grandchildren: Elliah and one on the way; sisters: Darlene "Joey"; Cynthia "Cinny" and little sister Tammy (Eric); nieces and nephews: Robby, Angela (Pug), LaToya (Toy), Crystal (Crissy), Andrea (Drea); six great nieces; six great nephews; four great-great nieces and one on the way; one great-great nephew.
