Maricela Alvarez De Mendoza, 65, of Piqua, Ohio, passed away Wednesday September 3, 2025, at Ohio's Hospice of Miami County. She was born April 11,1960, to the late Jose and Petra (Garcia) Alvarez. Marciela married her sweetheart Juan Mendoza July 1987 in Mexico, and he survives.
Maricela will be forever remembered by all those who knew and loved her, in addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: David (Jazmin) Alvarez, Houston, TX; Daniel (Caysie) Alvarez, Lima, OH; Juan M. (Abbie) Mendoza, Piqua, OH; and Karen (Lucas) Mantooth, Piqua, OH; one brother: Luis (Adriana) Alvarez, Brownsville, TX; three sisters: Olivia (Juan Antonio) Hernandez, Mexico; Cecilia (Jaime) Guerrero, Brownsville. TX; Sandra (Mike) Avila, San Antonio, TX; 14 grandchildren: Victoria, Kane, David Jr., Nico, Ruben, Daniel Jr., Belen, Alissa, Keaton, Carter, Miles, Allison, Violet and Lilibeth. She was preceded in death by one sister: Mely Rivera.
Maricela was a high school graduate, and she worked for West Troy in Troy, Ohio for eight years. She enjoyed taking care of her family, she was always happy to cook a meal, and she loved to spend time gardening. Maricela's greatest love was spending time with her grandbabies and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Maricela at 6:00pm on Thursday September 25,2025, at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua, Ohio with Pastor Dale Christian officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday September 25,2025, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at the funeral home.
