Dave Olm, 67, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away on September 7, 2023. Born on December 16, 1955, in Daytona Beach, Florida, Dave was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.
Dave was known for his infectious sense of humor and genuine care for others. He had a remarkable ability to light up any room he entered, bringing laughter and joy to those around him. His presence was like a beacon of light, a source of warmth and kindness that touched the hearts of everyone he met.
In the bowling world, Dave was an icon. With a career spanning over three decades, he left an indelible mark on the sport. Dave participated in 295 national and regional tournaments, achieving an impressive 12 Regional PBA Tournament wins from 1978 to 1998. His talent and dedication earned him 55 television appearances, showcasing his skills and passion for bowling. Dave had 21 perfect 300 games and 7 800 series in his career. Dave was also known for being a part of the team that won the World Team Challenge in the 90's. Dave's expertise and mentorship made him a respected figure in the bowling community, with many aspiring bowlers looking up to him as a role model. Dave's famous line, "Getting comfortable while being uncomfortable," encapsulated his approach to life.
During Dave's retirement years he enjoyed "the best retirement gig ever" as a Beach Toll Collector with the ocean and waves as his office view.
Beyond his achievements on the lanes, Dave was a true friend and father figure to many. He touched the lives of countless individuals, always going the extra mile to support and uplift those around him. His mischievous eyes and quick wit added to his charm, making him an unforgettable presence in the lives of his loved ones.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Roxie (Inman) Olm, his son Jonathan Olm, his brother Michael (Sharon Nickell) Olm, his sister Cindy Spiker, his nieces Allyson Olm, Samantha Spiker, Sarah Spiker, Skyler Spiker and his nephew Michael Olm, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy (Schramm) Olm and Herman Olm.
Dave Olm's legacy will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered as a remarkable bowler, a true friend, and a loving presence in the lives of his family. Dave's generosity, wit, and love will continue to inspire and bring smiles to the hearts of all who remember him.
