Larry D. Spriggs

Larry D. Spriggs, age 85, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Port Orange, Florida.

Larry was born on April 13, 1940, in Portsmith, Ohio, to Wayne and Marian Spriggs. He graduated from Gateway Tech in Pennsylvania with a degree in Electronics and Physics. In 1976 he moved to Sewickley, Pennsylvania and accepted a position as a professor at Carnegie Mellon University, Pitt University and CCPC where he worked for more than 27 years.

Larry was a great family man and a loving father. In 1974 he married Nancy Diewald and together they had two children, including Jeffrey, who died at infancy.

He was a social, active man who loved astronomy. He enjoyed boating, camping, and reading. His family and friends will always remember him as an intelligent and fun-loving person.

Larry is survived by his wife Nancy (Diewald) Spriggs of Port Orange; his son, Christopher Spriggs, of South Daytona, Florida; his daughter, Patty Spriggs of McKees Rock, Pennsylvania; and his grandson Matthew, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

A funeral is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday February 21, 2026, at Daytona Memorial. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Larry’s life.
