David Oloff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chas. Verheyden, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Clinton Township on Feb. 3, 2024.
David A. Oloff, "Big Bird," aged 68, of Eastpointe, Michigan, entered into eternal rest on February 2, 2024. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 15, 1955, to the late Virginia and Raymond Oloff, David's warmth and presence were a comfort to all who knew him.
A graduate of East Detroit High School, David pursued a life marked by industriousness and a hands-on approach. He was revered for his talents as a skilled craftsman in DIY building, remodeling, and refinishing, which he parlayed into a successful career. For nearly two decades, David served the City of Warren as a Sanitation Engineer, from which he retired in 2021.
Beyond his work, David was a man of many passions. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for fishing, boating, and camping. David's joy was most profound when surrounded by his family, with whom he shared life's most significant moments.
David's spirited personality and his colloquial wisdom, often expressed in phrases like "Go with the Flow," "Yada Yada Yada" and "Pushing Corn," will be fondly remembered by those who loved him; especially his sayings that resonated with a touch of humor during family events.
The Oloff family mourns the loss of a loving father to his son, Thomas Oloff; a caring brother to James (Pamela), Suzanne (Robert) Shelton, Donna Jean, and Richard (Lynne); and a cherished uncle to Matthew (Kate), Erin (Joe), Zachary, and Amanda (Kevin), along with many treasured great-nieces and nephews.
David's spiritual life was nurtured at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church, where he participated in the community and found solace in faith.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Chas Verheyden, Inc., 43300 Garfield Rd., Clinton Township, Michigan. Funeral will be Wednesday, February 7,2024 instate at 9:30am until time of mass at 10:00am at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church, 41300 Romeo Plank Rd., Clinton Township, Michigan. Fr. Ron Essman will be officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, concluding with a procession in his honor.
The Oloff family extends their heartfelt thanks for the compassionate care and support during this time of bereavement.
David's absence will resonate deeply within the hearts of his family and friends. His legacy, imbued with love, laughter, and life's simple pleasures, will endure perpetually.

An outstanding diver and great athlete, Dave was a valuable member of the East Detroit High School swim team. He was the kind of young man every coach would like to have on his team. I am saddened to learn of his passing.
With sincere sympathy,
Coach Dave Clark

Jimmy, Suzanne, Donna Jean, Ricky and family. Our sincere condolences on the loss of Dave. I have fond memories visiting all of you, including your Mom & Dad, during the summers at Ipperwash Provincial Campground in Canada. I still remember the time Dave & I swam out to a houseboat beyond the swim markers in water way over our heads. We were just kids. Those were great times with all of you. The entire Oloff family are in our prayers. Eternal Rest Grant Unto Dave, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul & the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest In Peace. Amen Dennis & Kasia Popiel
