David Overbey, 77, of Albany, died Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at his home.
His remains have been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Born in New London, CT, David spent most of his life in the Albany area. He graduated from Valdosta High School and earned his bachelors degree from Albany State University. He worked as a Medical Technologist with Phoebe Putney and then traveled all over the United States working.
He was an avid fan of the University of Alabama football, loved to fish and was a history buff and a verteran of the U. S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy, Jr. and Mary Overbey, grandson EJ Freeman, sisters, Diane Senkbeil, Mary Ann Edwards, brother-in-law, George Jackson Buckner.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Sonnedecker Overbey, daughters, Rachel Overbey, Amber Freeman (Eric), sons, Matthew Overbey, Zack Overbey, grandchildren, Jacob, Tristian, Emma (Elijah), Ryann (Megan), Scott, Autumn (Madison), Joshua, Hailyn, RJ and his sister, Susan Lynn Buckner and host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
