David Payne, 55, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday November 22, 2025 at his residence following a period of declining health.

Born August 22, 1970, David was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. He was a 1988 graduate of Dawson County High School and member of Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church. From the time he was 18 years old, David devoted much of his life to coaching young people in T-Ball, softball, football and basketball at Dawson County Parks and Recreation. He spent his working career at Wal-Mart in both Cumming and Dawsonville. David's family was the most important thing in his life and he will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Gennie Payne of Dawsonville; children, Keith Holbrooks (Sissy), Kira Taffar (Ethan), Brandee Clouse (Dylan) all of Dawsonville, Jade Fambrough (Jacob) of North Carolina; parents, Preston and Juanita Payne of Dawsonville; siblings, Darleen McMullin (Dallas), Jennifer Lancaster (Jeff), Brian Payne (Christy) all of Dawsonville; Grandchildren, Wyatt, Bentley, Auggie, Amelia, Bailey, Collin, Rowan, Penelope; other relatives.

Private graveside services will be held at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church Cemetery. Pastor Daniel Kimbrell will officiate.

A public reception to celebrate David's life will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the large pavilion at Rock Creek Park, 445 Martin Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
