David Peabody Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartmell-Davis Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. - Main Office on Mar. 3, 2026.
David Caldwell Peabody, 64, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side. David was a loving husband, father, son, brother, father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. Born in Boston, Massachusetts to George and Nancy Peabody, David was raised with his two sisters, Lucy and Sal, in Brookline's Pill Hill neighborhood, alongside their wonderful family friends, the Richardson's and Childs.

David spent his professional career in the Insurance Industry. He worked at various agencies throughout his career and retired from XS Brokers in Quincy, Massachusetts in 2024. David had many interests in life, collecting nautical items, restoring, and driving his 1967 Ford Mustang and his meticulous woodworking skills. His passion for antiquing led to many sacred, weathered finds, some of which even earned a place in the family home. In recent years, fishing became his favorite past time. Whether at the Cape Cod Canal, the Powder Point Bridge, a nearby beach or out on his boat, he was always ready to go. If the fish were jumping, he welcomed the challenge.

David's most important roles in life were being a loving husband and devoted father. His family meant everything to him. As a single father for many years, David met the love of his life, Kat in 2004. He was incredibly proud of the life they built together, beginning in Natick, Massachusetts. He cherished his time with his children in every way - sailing regattas, cross country, and track meets, restoring cars, making any engine a bit more powerful, watching crime shows, and spending days on the boat were all part of his daily routine. For David, family always came first.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 20 years, Kathleen "Kat" (Burke) Peabody, and their children, Emily Lima (Antone), Thomas Peabody, and Christopher Peabody. He was the beloved son of Nancy Peabody, brother of Sal Peabody, the brother-in-law of Jeanne Paquin (Paul), Paul Burke (Judy), and John Burke (Shondra) and Carleton Waters, along with his nephew, nieces, and many friends.

David is predeceased by his father, George Peabody, and sister Lucy Peabody Waters.

David's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, particularly Dr. Praful Ravi and Kyla Siemens, PA, for their extraordinary care over the past four years, and to the team at Croi Health Hospice for the compassionate care provided to David and his family in his final weeks.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 9th, from 10 am to 12 pm at the Cartmell Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St., Plymouth, MA. A Memorial Service will be held at 12pm following visitation. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of David to Dana-Farber Cancer www.dana-farber.org/gift or to Croi Health Hospice www.croihealth.org/giving.
