David Ford Pearson died at the age of 83 on May 22nd in his home after an extended illness. A former President and co-owner of Pearson's Funeral Home, he was born in Louisville to Edward "E.C." and Mildred "Billie" Pearson. David is survived by his loving wife, Penelope "Penny" Hill Pearson, his sons, Kent David Pearson (Lynn) and Glen Hill Pearson (Patti), two grandsons, Kennie Anderson (Michael) and Luke Pearson, and their mother, Jennifer Trumbo. He was predeceased by his youngest son, Edward "Courtney" Pearson. David is also survived by his sister, Mary Gayle Smith, and was predeceased by two older brothers, Lynn Dow Pearson and Robert Clarence "Bo" Pearson.David was an active member of the community and was involved in numerous professional and service organizations. He formerly served as President of the Funeral Directors Association of the Falls Cities, the Rotary Club of Louisville East (St. Matthews), the Episcopal Church Home, and the Executive Club of Louisville. He was also formerly a Vice-President of the Louisville Jaycees, Secretary and Treasurer of the National Selected Morticians, and a Board Member for the National Selected Morticians, for the Jefferson County Unit of the American Cancer Society, and for Hosparus of Louisville. His other memberships extended to involvement with the Civil War Roundtable, the Jefferson Club, Louisville Lodge #400 of the Masons, the Scottish Rite, and the Filson Club. In addition to his organizational activities, David and Penny loved to travel, going from Pole to Pole and visiting every continent. Throughout it all, David was a proud and Life member of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association.The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 27th at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane, the family institution to which he had dedicated so much of his life and was a proud part of their 176-year legacy.Funeral services will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 2822 Frankfort Avenue at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday May 28th, the church David and Penny attended for sixty years, including his tenure as Senior Warden.There will be a reception held after the funeral at St. Mark's Episcopal Church.The family requests that any memorial gifts be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 2822 Frankfort Avenue, Louisville, KY 40206 or to the West End School, 3628 Virginia Avenue, Louisville, KY 40211.Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes to Remember."Read Obituary
