Bar Harbor and Germany
David Allen Peckham, 80, died May 19,2025 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Bar Harbor, Maine on 30th January 1945, the son of William M. and Hope M. (Butler) Peckham, Jr.
David Graduated from Mount Desert High School in Northeast Harbor. He received a plumbing license from the General Electric apprentice program. He received his master plumber license in Maine. He was then drafted in the U.S. Army and served two years in Germany. After his service in the Army David worked for the U.S. Army Department of Defense in Germany and the United States. During this time David graduated from the University of Maine, Orono with a BS degree in Civil Engineering.
Upon his retirement and at the request of the Honorable John H. Adler, member of congress, a flag was flown over the U.S. Capital on August 13, 2010, and presented to David in recognition of David's 35 years of civilian and military service to the United States.
David married Yvonne Howard on October 21, 2012. He enjoyed cars of all kinds, and they loved attending the car shows together. David with his loving wife maintained the Rose Eden Cottages and Rose Eden Lobster in Bar Harbor. They enjoyed traveling, reading and entertaining family and friends together.
He is survived by his beloved wife Yvonne of Bar Harbor and Germany; son David William and wife Susanne of Mainz, Germany; brother Clarence Peckham and wife Brenda of Casa Grande, AZ; a niece Theresa Hanson of St. Cloud, MN; 3 nephews William Peckham and wife Lisa of Roscoe, IL, Barry Soper of Victor, NY and Brian Soper and wife Kathy of Blue Hill; 11 grandchildren and several grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Harlene Soper.
Private services will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor.
