David Matthew Piechocki, Jr., of Rapid City, passed away on December 17, 2024. He was born August 26, 2005, in Traverse City, MI, to Janessa Robinson and David Piechocki, Sr.
Powered by his strong work ethic, David got a job at Lanzen, Inc. at their Mancelona facility shortly after graduating high school. David was a 2023 graduate of Kalkaska High School where he excelled in athletics. He was an integral part of the basketball, baseball, and cross country teams, as he created and shared countless fond memories with his teammates, coaches, and their families. While at KHS, David had many close relationships with his peers, as well as staff, coaches, and parents. With his quick smile, calm and friendly demeanor, David won the hearts of everyone he met. He had a strong work ethic, and was always willing to seek out advice and listen to others. Whether it was a friend who needed help with moving, or someone in distress, David was a guy who would always lend a hand. Friends loved him for his ability to make them laugh.
David was often welcomed by many in the community. His company brought laughter and joy into their lives, and his kindness had a long-lasting impact on those around him. His companionship fostered countless memories that will be treasured endlessly.
Family time was extremely important to David. He was a fierce protector and a positive mentor for his younger brother Brendan and would make it a priority to support and cheer him on at his sporting events. He would routinely visit Great-Grandma and Grandpa Micheau in the Upper Peninsula, as well as his mom and Rob in Fowlerville. David had a special bond with his Nana and Papa Micheau, as they were shining examples of a grandparents' unconditional love. They supported David throughout his life and provided space for him to feel safe, loved, and appreciated. He adored his Nana and treated her like royalty, often taking her out to dinner and paying for the bill. He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, camping, and playing pick-up basketball games with his friends. Whether it was riding a side-by-side with Jenny and Haley, or going to the sandbar with Jagger and Taeven, "Pie," as they affectionately called him, was always willing to spend time with the people he loved.
David is survived by his beloved brother, Brendan, parents Janessa Robinson (Rob Duran) and David Piechocki, Sr., grandparents (Nana) Kim and (Papa) Jim Micheau, great-grandparents Gary and Helen Micheau, aunt Jessica (Matt) Seaman, aunt Ashton (Travis) Micheau, uncle Austin (Kelsey), aunt Anna (Jimmy), aunt Shelley (Pat), Mike Robinson, Jennifer Riegler, Josh Riegler, Jeremy Meiser, cousins Kiersten, Justin, Hunter, Payton, Kinsley, Jeffery, Jacob, Tommy, Courtney, Terrance, Saley, Zach and so many other relatives he loved, cherished, and shared fond memories with.
David is preceded in death by Great-Grandmother Sally Stoddard, Great-Grandfather Bill Robinson, Grandfather Jeffery Meiser, and Uncle Jeffery Riegler.
Services will be held on Monday, December 23 at Coldsprings Christian Fellowship in Kalkaska, MI. Visitation will be from 12pm-1pm. The service will be held at 1pm, officiated by Brett Bontrager. A luncheon, held at the same location, will follow.
With the deepest sympathy on the loss of his brother David, memorial donations may be made to Kim Micheau, as a way of supporting Brendan's future endeavors.
