David J. Placko, Sr. of Brunswick, age 83, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024. Beloved husband to Marie (Mitchell) for 63 years. Devoted father to: David Placko Jr. (Linda), Deborah Houdek (Chris) & Cynthia Nelson (Kirk). Loving grandfather to: Christopher Houdek (Casey), Zachary Houdek (Tiffany), Courtney Houdek, David Placko (Alexis), Samantha Noto (Nick) and Jaden Nelson. Great grandfather to: Callahan Houdek. Brother to James Placko (deceased), & Janice Oleksiak (Art).
David was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and was a proud 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus since 1997. He was a dedicated 40 year employee of United Airlines. He enjoyed volunteering with his church and various organizations. He also enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with his family and friends. David was loved by all and he will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2024, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Rd., Brunswick, followed by Mass of Catholic Burial at 2:00 p.m. Private interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, https://act.alz.org.
