Thomas W. Fischer

July 25, 1936 – November 25, 2025

Tom Fischer, age 89, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara, and their children: Elizabeth (Andrew), Michael (Julia), and David (Dena). He was the proud grandfather of five: Michael (Taylor), Michaela (Alex), Anna (Will), Samuel, and Ellen. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren: Banks and Nixon. Tom is also survived by his cousin Janet (Ray). He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Eleanor.

Born July 25, 1936, Tom graduated from Marquette High School and earned his Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. In his youth, he was active in the Boys Club camp as both a camper and counselor and later participated in the Big Brother program. Together with Barb, he opened their home as foster parents, providing care and hope to children in need.

Professionally, Tom served as Vice President of Human Resources at Parma Hospital until his retirement in 1999. His passion for learning continued well beyond his career; he joined the Institute for Learning in Retirement at Baldwin Wallace University, where he formed a cherished friendship with Jim.

Tom loved camping, creating pencil art, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He and Barb were married at Sacred Heart Parish, sharing 54 wonderful years together.

He will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and generous man who enriched the lives of all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025, at St. Ambrose Parish, 929 Pearl Rd., Brunswick. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City.
