David Leroy Pointer, Sr., age 79, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. David was born March 17, 1945, in Weatherford, Texas, to Lawrence W. Pointer and Annie (Stults) Pointer.
David was a Weatherford High School graduate, class of 1963.
With dedication, he worked as an assembler for General Motors, retiring after a rewarding career. Beyond his professional accomplishments, David also found joy as the proprietor of Pointer’s Pony Rides where he took pride in bringing smiles to kids and their families. He was well known at Weatherford First Monday, other trade days, and also private events such as birthday parties and school festivals. He was proud to have held the honorable positions of President of the North Texas Pee Wee Football Association and President of the Diamond Hill Jarvis High School athletic booster club.
David's heart was forever devoted to his treasured family; nothing brought him greater happiness than spending precious moments with his grandchildren and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard W. Pointer; daughter, Nikki Anderton; and great grandsons, Houston Cooper and Eric T. Cooper, II.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved children: Stephanie Cooper and husband, Eric; David L. Pointer, Jr. and wife, Melinda; his former wife and mother of their children, Hazel Pointer; grandchildren: David Pointer, III and wife, Pin Chen; Steven Pointer and wife, Jessica; John Pointer; Emily Andrews and husband, Dalton; Hallie Pointer; Eric T. Cooper; Benjamin E. Cooper; James Pointer and wife, Melinda; William "Billy" Cooper and wife, Alena; Anthony "Tony" Cooper; Davey S. Kennington; Gabriel O’Neal and wife, Audrey; and great grandchildren: Bradley, Valerie, Kendra, Nathan, Liah, Mia, Aden, Abby, Joey, Genesis, and two more blessings on the way.
A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm St, Weatherford, Texas.
Mr. Pointer's graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2024, at the East Greenwood Cemetery, in Weatherford, Texas.
