David Ross Porter, 74, of Mt. Airy, MD, passed away on May 16, 2025. Born on November 5, 1950, in Sante Fe, New Mexico, he was the youngest son of Edward Porter and Margaret (Skillman) Porter. He married the late Valerie Porter in 1974 and is survived by his son Bradley Porter and daughter Charlotte Porter. David was raised in Rockville, MD with his brother Ted (Frederick) Porter and sister Joan Porter Mauney. He had three grandchildren that he adored Lyla, Autumn and Mason.
David loved the outdoors and doing things with his hands. He could fix anything mechanical, while also being an excellent cook. He could hand craft just about anything out of wood to perfection and was quite a marksman with a gun. He made a career as an electrician, working at the Washington Post for 20+ years and ran his own general contracting business for over a decade. David was a loving family man, and a good friend who would give you the shirt off his back. He never missed either of his kids' sports or school events throughout all these years and then graduated to his grandchildren's events. He was a marvelous story teller, conversationalist, easy going and a general pleasure to have around.

The family will be receiving friends from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM on Friday, May 30th at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville, MD, where a service will begin at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow at Parklawn Cemetery at 1:00 PM, 12800 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville, MD 20853.
