David R. Powell

David R. Powell died unexpectedly of natural causes on January 10, 2023 at his residence. David was 59 years old & is survived by his daughter, Allison Biedrzycki (husband, Adam), his friend & wife, Karen Powell, & his stepson Jesse Crowley-Bean. He is also survived by his mother, Patty Powell, his sister Joni Powell & brother Ken Powell (wife Mary Ryan Powell), & several nieces, nephew, aunts/uncle, cousins & lifelong friends. David was predeceased by his father, Robert D. Powell, in 2011.
David was born in Wilmington, DE & lived in Kiamensi area his entire life. He was a master carpenter before being critically injured & disabled by performing a good deed for a stranger in danger. He loved building & took pride in his accomplishments as a skilled carpenter. He was a constant support to our mother & provided love & supportive care to our father prior to his death.
In addition to his kindness, he will be remembered as life-long, committed fan to The Grateful Dead & to wearing all things tie-dyed. The family's shared sadness is realized by his loss to be the Pop-Pop he so looked forward to being to his young grandson, Benjamin.
Services will be held on Tuesday, 1/17/2023, with visitation to start at 3:00 pm & followed by a 4:00 pm memorial service at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilm, DE. No other services are planned.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Sunday Breakfast Mission, 110 N. Poplar St. Wilmington, DE 19801.
