David Scott Rainey, 73, of Herrin, passed away on October 7, 2025, at his home. Born on November 5, 1951, in Brookline, Massachusetts, to the late Walter D. and Betty Lou (Neville) Rainey, David lived life on his own terms.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his dear friend Ron Mertz and many friends he cherished. A cowboy at heart, David loved horses and was known for his vibrant personality, making him the life of every party. His unique soul and spirit will be deeply missed in the Herrin community, where he was a beloved fixture.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association. Final arrangements will be announced as details become available.
