David Bolton Rast, age 50, of Olive Branch, MS, passed away on November 1, 2025, after a two-year battle against cancer. Born on May 7, 1975, in Memphis, TN, David lived a life marked by compassion, humor, and a deep commitment to helping others.
David was preceded in death by his stepmother, Sarah Rast, and his brother, Mason Cullen. He is survived by his father, Dale Rast; his mother, Paula Cotter; his sister, Delayne Williams (Shane); his brother, Michael Cullen (Dena); and a large circle of extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
David was a proud Cardinal at Wooddale High School, where he thrived under the Friday night lights and received the distinction of Football MVP his senior year. He was also very honored to be selected as "Mr. Wooddale".
A graduate of Intelli Tec College, David earned an Associate Degree in Occupational Studies in Automotive Technology. He took immense pride in his work as an automotive technician, dedicating many hours outside of his professional life to helping friends and family maintain reliable transportation. His skills were not just a career-they were a calling to serve others.
Before pursuing his passion for automotive work, David spent many years in the bartending and food service industry, where his outgoing personality and quick wit made him a favorite among patrons and coworkers alike. Known for his big heart and even bigger sense of humor, David had a unique ability to make everyone feel at ease.
Though David didn't always take the easy road, his journey was filled with unforgettable stories and hard-earned wisdom. He generously shared these life lessons with his nieces, nephew, and friends, leaving a legacy of resilience and authenticity.
David spent many fulfilling years at Christian Brothers Automotive in Collierville, where he was mentored by the previous and current owner and coworkers who made a lasting impact on his life. Their support and camaraderie meant the world to him.
Above all, David was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, laughed with him, and were touched by his kindness.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on November 29, 2025, at Peace Tree United Methodist Church, 9315 E. Shelby Dr., Collierville, TN 38107, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
