DAVID RAY Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crawford / Ray Funeral Home from Oct. 2 to Oct. 3, 2022.
Canton- David Glenn Ray, age 52, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

David was born September 20, 1970 in Haywood County where he had resided before moving to Spring Lake, North Carolina. He returned to the mountains of Haywood County in 2014 to make his home and to be close to his family and friends. David had been employed as a licensed plumber, working in the construction industry, and had most recently worked at Ingles in Canton as a grocery stocker. A true outdoorsman, he was an avid fisherman, enjoyed walking and also hiking, especially on the Blue Ridge Parkway. David was a gifted athlete and played basketball for several years. He was indeed a fierce player for The Asheville City League, The Hendersonville City League, and also The Champion League, where he had won many trophies and had made many long-lasting friendships. David was a true Tennessee Vols fan and always "kept up" with all their games. A famous quote seems to reflect on David's life, "Keep close to nature's heart… and break away clear once in a while, climb a mountain or spend time in the woods or by the river." We are saddened by David's passing but our hearts know that he is now in a glorious place of peace and love.

David was preceded in death by his daughter, Brittany "Cheyenne" Ray Fowler; paternal grandparents, Robert "Bud" Ray and Helen Bussell Ray, and maternal grandparents, Elbert Guy and Lorene Moore Guy.

He is survived by his parents, Terry Martin Ray and Judith Ann Guy Ray; his wife, Kimberly Jimison Ray of Canton; a daughter, Lindsay Ray Dooley ( Bryant) of Spring Lake, NC; a sister, Angie Green and Jeff of Canton; a brother, Johnny Ray and his fiancée Kaylee of Waynesville; grandchildren, Eleanor, Calum, and Samuel; also several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate David's life will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 pm Saturday, October 15, 2022 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Ray family.
