MUNCIE - David Lynn Reade, age 61, of Muncie, Indiana, reached his heavenly home on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, after a courageous 3-year battle with cancer. "Coach" as he was affectionately known, died peacefully at home with his loving wife of 34 years, Kim by his side.
Dave was born on June 20, 1964, in Kendallville, Indiana, son of the late Robert and Patricia Reade.
He graduated from East Noble High School in 1983, and received his bachelor's degree from Purdue University in 1988.
A former athlete, Dave devoted his life to educating and coaching. He taught 35 years at Delta High School and Middle School, coaching basketball for more than 20 years. Dave took great pride in being on the Eagles coaching staff, where the team garnered national attention in their 1997 run to the state championship in the last Indiana high school one class tournament. He was also on the coaching staff of the 2002 3A State Champion Delta Eagles.
Dave married Kim on March 23, 1991, and honeymooned in Hawaii, sparking a lifelong love of travel and adventure. Dave enjoyed sailing and scuba diving, especially between Maui and Lanai. Together they explored castles in England and Ireland. Dave also loved his Purdue Boilermakers, Indianapolis Colts, spending time at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and golfing with friends.
He attended Commonway Church in Muncie.

He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Stan Speheger and Leon Benson.
David's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at the Delta High School Auditorium, Muncie, Indiana.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m., with a service to begin immediately after.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at 2 p.m., in LaCrosse, Virginia.
