David Roam, son of the late Wayne Henry Roam and Grace Aline (Atterberry) Roam, was born March 11, 1945 in Waynesville, Missouri. He grew up in Swedeborg, Missouri, where he attended school until the 8th grade. David then transferred over to Richland High School where he graduated with the class of 1963.
After graduating, David began working for Goodrich Gas until the early 1980s. Then, he became a Federal Government employee at Fort Leonard Wood in 1981, where he worked as a boiler operator and performed maintenance until his retirement in 2015. During this time he also operated his HVAC business, David Roam Contracting. He enjoyed serving his community and made many friends throughout the years. His motto was people before profit.
David accepted Christ as his personal Savior as a young boy and was baptized in the Gasconade River near Swedeborg and was a beloved member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
David was united in marriage to Sharon "Kay" Jackson on January 27, 1967, in Swedeborg, Missouri. They shared over 56 years of marriage together and were blessed with one son, Tyler. Together they enjoyed life, laughter, and spending time together hand in hand.
In his spare time, David liked being outdoors with his faithful canine sidekicks, Lilly and Moose. He often shared a bowl of ice cream with them. He enjoyed working on tractors and cars. David also enjoyed going to farm auctions with his friend, James Brackett. He enjoyed going gigging at the river and eating biscuits, taters, and fish by the campfire with his buddies. David loved hanging out with his friends at Tom's Auto Repair Shop where the tall tales never ended.
Surrounded by his loving family, David passed away on the evening of Friday, December 1, 2023 having attained the age of 78 years, while in Mercy hospital of Lebanon, Missouri after a brief battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Grace Roam; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Agnes Jackson; brother-in-law, Dennis Cauley; two nieces: Kristi Cauley and Mandy Sherrer.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Kay of the home; one son, Tyler Roam (Amanda) of Richland, MO; brother-in-law: Eddie Jackson of Richland, MO; two sisters-in-law: Carolyn Cauley of Montreal, MO and Carlen Jackson of Richland, MO; several other relatives, and a host of friends.
David was a wonderful friend and neighbor to all. He will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him.
