David “Richard” Roberson, Jr. passed away on September 24, 2025, at the young age of 42. Richard was currently residing in Fyffe, Alabama, but Holly Pond was his home. Richard was born November 30, 1982, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Janey Roberson Grimes and the late David Richard Roberson, Sr.
Richard is survived by his two sons, Trey and Tyce Roberson, and daughter, Tagan Roberson; mother and stepfather, Janey and Wade Grimes; sister, Jana (Tyler) Childers; stepbrother, Tyler Grimes; nephews, Stetson Childers and Memphis Grimes; niece, Joplin Grimes; grandmother, Martha McGinnis; and mother of his children, Maranda Leonard.
Richard is preceded in death by his father, David “Cooney” Roberson, Sr.; grandparents, Hobert McGinnis, Hobert Roberson, Eula Benefield, and Frank and Agnes Grimes.
Richard was one of a kind – funny, strong, stubborn, and a heart of gold. He would give you the shirt off his back, and he never met a stranger. Richard had friends from Florida to Colorado. And over the years, Richard spent his free time drag racing, hunting, and fishing. But of all the things Richard enjoyed and loved, his three children were his pride and joy. Richard faced some battles, but without question he loved his Hotrod, Tooter, and Sis.
Funeral services for Richard will be on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Holly Pond Funeral Home. Family and friends can visit from 10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. The service will be at 1:00 p.m., Gary Munson and Champ Crocker officiating, with burial following at Holly Pond Cemetery where Tyler Childers, Todd Trucks, Jacob Gibbs, Brandon Brown, Ron Crumbly, and Zach Chandler will serve as pallbearers.
