Doris Dean McMurry, 91, of Hanceville, Alabama, passed away on Thursday morning, December 18, 2025. Ms. McMurry was born in Blount Springs, Alabama, on June 25, 1934, to the late Fate Arthur and Mary Lou Hill Whitehead.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benjamin Franklin McMurry; and brothers, Milton Whitehead and Billy Whitehead.
Those surviving Ms. McMurry include her daughter, Dorris L. McMurry; brothers, Lowell Whitehead, Roger Whitehead; grandchildren, Sacha Stroud (Shawn), Kyle Banks, Jacqueline Mugge (Jacob); great-grandchildren, Keira, Kendal, Brandon, and Theodore; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Ms. McMurry will lie-in-state on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. until funeral services begin at 2:00 p.m., in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow services in Edison Chapel Cemetery.
