David Winfred Robinson, age 84, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 24, 2024. He was born on September 10, 1939. His parents were the late Fred Robinson and Wilma Miller Robinson.
David’s life was filled with various accomplishments and roles. In 1964, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. His professional career included working as a coal miner, serving as the general manager of Sigmon Enterprises, LLC, Harrogate, TN, and serving as Senior Project Engineer of the Cumberland Gap Tunnel Project and first manager of the Cumberland Gap Tunnel, one of his proudest roles. In addition to his professional endeavors, David found solace and joy by working the land as a true gentleman farmer. His love for dogs was evident to all who knew him, as his furry companions were never far from his side. He was also regarded as a true Bible scholar who held his position as Elder at First Presbyterian Church, Middlesboro, KY with great honor. Above all, his role as husband, father, and grandfather brought him his greatest pleasure.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two brothers, James H. Burros and Dale Burros.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Ann Combs Robinson; children, Jane Robinson of Mt. Sterling, KY, Elizabeth Robinson Cole (James) of Natchitoches, LA, Fred Robinson (Ashley) of Middlesboro, KY, and Joshua Robinson (Sarah) of Frankfort, KY; grandchildren, Lora Cole, David Cole, Oliver Robinson, Finnley Robinson, and Willow Robinson as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family of David Robinson will receive friends on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Russell Sisson presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, Middlesboro, KY.
