David Kreston "Kret" Rose, 67, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Friday, February 20, 2026.
Kret will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park in Newport.
Born on September 25, 1958, in Bethesda, Maryland, Kret was the son of the late Archie Rose Sr. and Grace Bartlett Rose.
Kret was happiest when cheering on his favorite teams, especially the NC State Wolfpack and the Atlanta Braves. He loved watching the games, following the stats, and supporting his teams through every season. Kret was also a huge NASCAR fan, and Sunday races were a cherished tradition.
He had a deep love for rock and roll music, the kind you turn up loud and sing along to without hesitation. Kret appreciated the beauty of coastal living and spent many happy days fishing along the shores of Atlantic Beach.
Above all, Kret was a devoted family man. Nothing brought him greater joy than his grandchildren, who were truly the apple of his eye. His love for them was evident and they were a huge source of pride in his life.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kristina Rose Burgin (Stephen) of Raleigh, NC; sons, Andrew Rose (Devon) of Raleigh, NC and Bailey Booth of Franklin, KY; brother, Archie Rose Jr. of Wilson, NC; and grandchildren, Lillian Burgin, Avery Burgin, and Gabriel Burgin.
In addition to his parents, Kret was preceded in death by his grandson, Evan Burgin.
