DAVID ROSS
Beech Bluff, TN: David Brent Ross, age 75, passed away December 13, 2024, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born March 31, 1949, in Sardis, TN, the son of the late Seamon Ernest and Audrey Mae Bridges Ross. He grew up in Sardis and was a 1967 graduate of Sardis High School. He attended Freed Hardeman College then Memphis State University graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1971.
He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Carolyn Duck on May 26, 1967. They made their home in Beech Bluff most of their married life.
He worked for TN Farm Bureau as an insurance adjuster for many years, retiring in 2011.
He was saved at age thirty-nine and became an active member of East Laurel Baptist Church in Jackson where he served in various ministries and leadership roles including, Deacon, Sunday School Director, Church Treasurer, member of the Choir and assisted with church Media.
He loved God, family, and church.
He was a loving husband, and devoted Dad, “Big Daddy” to his grandchildren, and left his family with a great legacy of faith.
He was a man of humility, who’s life reflected Phil. 2:3 – “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” His favorite verse of scripture was Phil. 4:13 - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Mr. Ross is survived by his wife, Betty Carolyn Duck Ross of Beech Bluff, three sons, Jeremy Ross (April) of Jackson, Darryl Ross (Susie) of Pinson and Matthew Ross (Jessica) of Beech Bluff; grandchildren, Mason Ross (Elizabeth), Landon Ross, Ansley Ross Norton (Blake), Holden Ross, Niki Upton (Dustin Sanford), and Waylon Ross; great grandchildren, Rhodes Robert Norton, June Coe Ross, Andrew Upton, Knox Sanford and Maci Sanford and one on the way, Ross Norton; and one sister, Judy Dell Duck (Billy) of Reagan, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Alan Dale Ross and a sister-in-law, Stephanie Phillips Ross.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 18th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Manning Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at East Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery, in Jackson, TN.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday.
