David R. Ruel
Biddeford - David R. Ruel, 63, passed away suddenly on Sunday morning, December 1, 2024 at his home.
He was born August 28, 1961 in Biddeford, a son of George and Paulette Ruel.
He was a graduate of Biddeford High School, class of 1979. He married Ann Dufour on June 10, 1994 and they recently enjoyed a large gathering to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.
David retired in 2022 after working as a machinist for 42 years at Pratt & Whitney.
David was a hard worker, with devotion to both his job and family. He was a skilled welder and woodworker who truly enjoyed sharing his craftsmanship. His resourcefulness and intelligence was sought out by many. Even with a full checklist, which included chores or his next new project, David was always ready to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. His multitude of talents made him an effective problem solver and achiever, on the homefront, workplace and every part of his life.
His favorite activities and past times included riding his Harley Davidson, snowmobiling and weekly meet ups with family and close friends. Spending time together at camp became the foundation for many fond memories held dearest to his heart.
His dry but witty sense of humor was most enjoyed by those closest to him. David may have initially seemed shy, but his heart opened as you got to know him. He was a kind-hearted and generous soul, purely genuine and the most caring teddy bear, forever leaving a void in the lives he has touched.
He will be sadly missed by many but most importantly by his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, son and brother. Our memories of his unwavering love, supportive demeanor and heartfelt compassion will remain in our hearts forever.
David is survived by his parents; his wife; a son, Dylan Ruel and his wife, Brea of Biddeford; a daughter, Ashlin Ruel and her significant other, Curtis Bertrand of Saco; a brother, Roger Ruel and his wife, Charlene of Biddeford; a sister, Karen Ruel and her husband, Al Lebreux of Biddeford; and several cousins, nieces and a nephew. He also leaves behind his four-legged best friend, Macy, his playful and loving companion.
Visiting hours will be December 5, 2024 from 2 to 6 p.m., immediately followed by a memorial prayer.
Arrangements are provided by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street in Biddeford.
David was an active supporter in motorcycle and snowmobile benefit rides through Pratt & Whitney for United Way. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable contribution in David's memory to United Way of Southern Maine 550 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Portland, ME 04101.
