David Sammons Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greer Funeral Home - Granite on Jul. 7, 2025.
David Harold Sammons, age 86, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of July 2, 2025. Born in Bristol, Virginia on June 11, 1939, he was the beloved eldest son of the late David Hamilton and Ida Mae (Sammons) Pullon.
Dave was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Virginia, who was the "Rose" of his life for more than 67 years. He is survived by his four children: son David (Rene), and daughters Sherri Trubenstein (Matt), Kelly Wojtek (Larry), and Tonya (Jennifer); his brother Charles and sister Velma Poore; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He dedicated over 40 years of his professional life to civil engineering, construction, and facilities maintenance-serving both the United States Air Force and the San Angelo Independent School District. Dave was especially proud of his 20-year military career, which took him abroad to Okinawa, Japan; Taiwan; and most notably, to Vietnam during wartime.
In retirement, Dave found joy at "The Ranch," a home he built with his own hands on 20 acres near Kerrville, Texas. He embraced the freedom of traveling in his RV, enjoyed luxury cruises, and spent cherished time hunting, fishing, and gardening. He made lasting memories on annual family trips to the Texas coast. Above all, his greatest happiness came from being surrounded by his family.
Viewing will take place at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Saint John Lutheran Church, 507 Ada St in Granite, Oklahoma. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM at the church. Immediately after the service, a graveside ceremony with military honors will be held at the Lutheran Cemetery on E 1440 Rd, Granite, OK 73547.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave's memory may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 56, Granite, OK 73547, or to a charity of your choice.
