David R. Schelling, Professor Emeritus UMCP, passed away at home on September 11, 2023.
He served previously as V.P. of Greiner Engineering in Baltimore, MD and was a life member of the Masons. He founded the BEST Center at UMCP for research in the Engineering Department.
He is survived by Joan Hough Schelling, his wife. Also surviving are two children, Harold & Tom Schelling; three step children, David Hough, Karen Hough Croll, and P.J. Hough; two grandchildren, Alexander and Vivian Schelling; two step grandchildren, P. Jason Hough and Michael Hough; also six step grandchildren.
His late parents were Harold and Laura Widger Schelling of NY; his sister Janice Freese preceded him in death, as well as J. Ricky Hough.
Private interment will be at a later date in Sherburne West Hill Cemetery, NY.
The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland, MD is assisting the family.
