CUBA CITY – David F. Schildgen, age 39, of Cuba City, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at his home. He was born on September 12, 1984, in Lancaster, the son of Gary and Sandra (Hampton) Schildgen. David graduated from Lancaster High School in 2003. Following graduation, he attended Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore. David has been employed all his life in various vocations. He attended St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. David enjoyed fishing, had a great sense of humor, and was kind and generous to anyone. He dearly loved farming on the Schildgen family farm and driving his Case 2590 Tractor. David will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his two sons: Luca and Tate; his parents, Gary and Sandy Schildgen; two brothers: Brad (Whitney) and their daughter, Harlie Jo and Jacob Schildgen; his beloved dog, Maximus; many members of the Schildgen and Hampton families.
David was preceded in death by a sister, Stephanie in infancy; his maternal grandparents: Norman and Delores Hampton; paternal grandparents: Gerald and Florence Schildgen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father Mark Miller officiating. Private family burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a David F. Schildgen Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with his care.
