The David Schindeldecker I knew was a thoughtful, caring, sensitive, hilarious, outrageous, person who was of great support to me and my wife Celeste (Castillo) as we attempted to manage our young lives (say 1972 - 1979). That is, our youthful marriage, the birth of our twin daughters, life adjustments associated with military service in Colorado Springs and a 4 yr stop over back in Minnesota before family move to Indianapolis. The number of times David (and Twyla) had come to our aid was countless. Dave´s friendship meant a great deal to Celeste. She would speak of picking on him (beating him up) when they were in grade school (or was that Tim Gravel?) but apparently by high school, close friendship was made with David and his buddies. Regrets are had for not staying up with him and his life, though he did tell me in one of our last good visits (Indianapolis - mid 80´s) that life was becoming more complex for him, offering this contrast at a point in time when our family´s life was becoming more simple.
The world was better for David Schindeldecker.

I only knew David for a short time while working with him at Central Lutheran in the kitchen for Monday meals. He was so pleasant and good to talk to. He has been missed during his illness and that is only deeper.

David and I graduated from SSP, so my first memory of him is school. We had a great time going bowling as a group of us teens would do if if we all had days off from work. Great , kindhearted guy! I was sorry to hear of his passing. Condolences to his family members.

Sorry to hear about my fellow South St Paul HS grad David passing. He attended our (belated) 2022 50th Reunion, I spoke with him at the school tour. He was genuinely interested in seeing his classmates and learning what they were up to. I remember David as a fellow Southender, a Washington School student and a great member of our 1971 Class. I'm sure he will be missed by many.

I met David when I was 17 at Applebaums grocery store and we have been friends for 50+ years. He was a great friend and we laughed a lot. He gave me some Rain Lily bulbs that his good friend Tim had given him and I will always think of him when the lilies bloom
