Ridgeway – David John Schlimgen, age 70, of Ridgeway, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Ingleside Nursing Home and Care Center in Mt. Horeb, WI. Dave was born on April 15, 1955, the son of Roman and Grace (Lybek) Schlimgen of Barneveld, WI. Dave graduated from Barneveld High School in 1973. In 1982, Dave was married to Lynn Hughes and they had 2 sons, DJ and Robby. Dave made a career of truck driving, and he loved being behind the wheel of his big rig. He worked for many companies including his brother Chuck's company, Schlimgen Transfer Lines, Brunsell Lumber, and Premier Coop. Dave had many nicknames, as many knew him as Slim or Bucko. Dave loved many things in life including his work as a truck driver, his co-workers, his horses (particularly J.J.), watching his grandchildren's sporting events and most importantly, his family. Dave was active in both the Barneveld VFW where he served as an Auxiliary member and the Catholic Church where he served as a Knight of Columbus for several years. Dave is survived by his, mother Grace Schlimgen; his former wife Lynn (Rick) Daniels; two sons, DJ (Melissa) Schlimgen and Robby (Andraea) Schlimgen; his five grandchildren, Cohlman, Kaydn, Lila, Reid and Macee; his godfather Glenn Schlimgen; brothers and sisters, Chuck (Lynn) Schlimgen, Patty (Dave) Powers, Bill (Diane) Schlimgen, Kathy (Tom) Mauger, Ken (Ann) Schlimgen, Dennis (Lisa) Schlimgen; and many nieces and nephews including his god-daughter, Heather (Derek) Schmitz. Dave is preceded in death by his father, Roman Schlimgen, as well as his grandparents and many aunts and uncles. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow service on Thursday at the Barneveld American Legion Hall. Private family inurnment will be held in St. Bridget's Cemetery in Ridgeway.
