David Rae Scudder, age 85, of Rolla, MO, passed away on August 21, 2024, after a brief illness and with his son Timothy by his side.
David Rae Scudder was born on May 22, 1939, in Oneonta, NY, to Julian and Bernice Scudder. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. His passion for service extended beyond the military as he dedicated many years to missionary work with Operation Mobilization in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Spain, India, and Nepal. After his mission work, David was a manager for a British Christian book distributor in England called Send the Light (STL), and he later worked alongside his brother Jack in construction in Missouri.
David pursued his calling by completing his degree in Divinity in 1986, after which he served as a Baptist minister for 34 years, touching many lives through his service.
David was a dedicated and patient father to his sons, Michael and Timothy. His greatest passion was studying and sharing the Word of God and ministering to those in need, a calling that extended into every aspect of his life. Beyond his formal ministry, David's faith was evident in his daily devotional posts on social media, which he used to spread the Word of God and bring comfort to others during challenging times. His legacy of faith, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his beliefs will continue to inspire all who knew him.
David is survived by his son, Timothy; grandson, Nicholas; and granddaughter, Emily. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gini, his son Michael, his brother Jack, and his sister Debbie.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 5th at 11:00 AM at Macedonia Baptist Church, 15524 Co Rd 2110, Rolla, MO 65401.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Macedonia Baptist Church.
