Erin Marie Gaddy Fitzgerald, 59, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, knowing she was loved by her family and friends.
Born in Portland, Maine, on December 1, 1965, Erin was the daughter of Dr. B. Smith Gaddy II, and Connie Loughridge Gaddy. She grew up in Rolla, Missouri, graduated from Rolla High School in 1984, earned her degree in communications from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1988. After the loss of her young son, Ryan, and the birth of her second son, Colin, Erin’s compassion deepened, and she dedicated herself to helping others through their own struggles. She earned her master’s degree in social work from Saint Louis University in 1998 and went on to serve clients in Rolla and St. Louis as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Erin was known for her intelligence, humor, and empathy. A gifted writer and lover of words, she found beauty in expression and connection. She valued laughter, friendship, a good tennis match, and the comfort of animals. Her beautiful smile and quick wit lifted those around her, and her faith guided her through both the good and difficult seasons of her life.
She is preceded in death by her son Ryan Fitzgerald; nephew Benjamin Smith Gaddy IV; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Martha Marie Loughridge; and paternal grandparents B. Smith and Berniece Gaddy.
Erin is survived b her son, Colin Fitzgerald of Murray, Kenturcky; partner of sixteen years Adrian Hill of St. Louis; parents Dr. B. Smith and Connie Jean Gaddy of Rolla; brothers Smith Gaddy III of Rolla and Sean Gaddy of St. Louis; nieces and nephews, Lauren, Elizabeth, Emily, Marie, Marcella, Ridge, and Nolan Gaddy; great-niece, Amyah Hailey Gaddy; great-nephew, Benjamin Smith Gaddy V; and many relatives and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
